The Legend of Zelda: Breath of The Wild

A genre that I have discussed here on the blog but has an entirely different tone and theme to Dying Light. Coming from a popular and very well known gaming company, Nintendo. Series from Super Mario Bros, Pokemon, Donkey Kong including many others, and of course Legend of Zelda. Which for many their first ever video game they ever played was from Nintendo which creates much nostalgia and appreciation. For the company as a whole. This game falls under the genres of open world, action, and adventure. The narrative goes like this, you control Link the personal guard/knight of princess Zelda. Who has awaken from his 100 year old slumber and is awaken from the princess all the way across Hyrule field. You are tasked with saving Princess Zelda and freeing the world of a curse that has ravaged the land. As link awakens from his slumber you notice he’s completely defenseless with no weapons but merely a pair of shorts on him. Through your journey you uncover memories of not just link and Zelda, but of why things are the way they are. Including of other characters that will help you on your journey as well. On to the game play. You are free to explore the entire the map at any point in the game, but the player has to beware of the conditions. Such as the temperature and having the proper attire to traverse specific locations. For example the desert, Snowy peaks, even volcanoes. As not having the proper attire costs them hp. In terms of weapons they’re picked up from enemies defeated, in chests, shrines, or even gained after completing quests. But, also keep in mind that weapons and shields break at some point just like Link, they have a hp bar attached to them. They’re is also a cooking mechanic in which the player can create its own meals and potions. Potions that could boost attack strength, endurance and other valuable qualities that can be enhanced for a short period of time. Depending on the ingredients mixed. Same goes for the meals. Overall, it’s a master piece. It’s really goes to show what an open world can evoke with in a player that keeps them for hours on end. With every nook and cranny searched rewarding the player for it. As I’ve only scratched the surface in terms of what can be done. This game is Available on Wii U and the Switch. Which just like The Last of US, and Dying Light, has its fans anxious for the sequel. At this time no release date had been announced.
