A genre that I’ve discussed on this blog but is quite different from the others. Developed by a studio that is extremely popular. Capcom. They are responsible for various franchises from Mega Man, Street Fighter, Monster Hunter and of course Resident evil. This franchise has been going on for over 20 years since then, there’s been many spin off titles and remakes of older titles. But, I will be talking about a remake of a title that was originally released back in 1998. A third person action survival horror game. Where you can either play as a rookie cop named Leon or a college student named Claire. This game has two perspectives to play from for the main story. Where early on you realize the grave situation the game puts you in. You’re in raccoon city located in the Midwest of the U.S that is overrun by zombies. You as Leon or Claire uncover the mysteries surrounding the virus outbreak through your journey. As you progress through the game. The game play is daunting and ruthless. The zombies themselves may be slow but are very hard to predict when they will lunge over to put their teeth on your shoulder. Similar to the Last of Us there’s a crafting system. Which consists of crafting ammunition for weapons acquired as you progress through the game and mixing of herbs. Which are healing items that are key to longevity. As you can only take three hits in standard mode two in Hardcore, depending on the enemy type you’re up going against . There are key decisions that need to be made as you can’t carry everything at once, which includes weapons. The game revolves around a backpack system which can be upgraded only if you find other packs. Whether it’s carrying extra ammunition or an extra herb, it’s up to you to decide as even running from the zombies is a viable option. But, it’s not always the best decision at the same time as the game is structured to keep the player alert in all situations. Gives a consistent claustrophobic feel in tight areas. As the zombies take multiple shots to take down as for the majority of the time, a shot in the head won’t do the job. So the decision always comes into mind, Should I take it out or maneuver around it to save a couple bullets. To conclude it has it’s fans anxious waiting for the remake of Resident evil 3 releasing this year on April 3rd. Resident Evil 2 is available on PS4, Xbox One, and PC.
